When you scan a receipt, we also collect the photo you take or upload, and what is read from it: the total, the line items and the kind of purchase. A receipt can show where and when a purchase was made and, sometimes, the last digits of the card it was paid with.
We never ask for your payment details or your address, but a receipt photo may contain them. If you would rather not share them, cover them before taking the photo, or enter the expense by hand instead of scanning it.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account.
- To communicate with you about updates, events, or important information related to repartim.app.
- To read the receipts you scan and fill in the expense for you.
- To improve our website's functionality and user experience.
We will not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except with the service providers described in this policy and as required by law.
Receipt Photos
Receipt photos are stored on our own servers together with the event they belong to, and anyone with access to that event can see them. A photo is deleted when the expense it belongs to is deleted, including when the whole event is deleted. A photo that was scanned but never saved as an expense is deleted after one day.
To read a receipt, we send the photo to OpenRouter, which passes it to an AI model provider (currently Google) to extract its text. We only allow providers that neither store nor log the photo once they have answered, and that do not use it to train their models. If no provider meets these conditions, the scan fails rather than sending the photo anywhere else. This processing may take place outside the European Union.
Data Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. However, no method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to help us operate our site and communicate with users:
- Email service providers, which receive your email address to deliver our emails.
- Analytics tools, which receive information about how our website is used.
- OpenRouter and the AI model provider it routes to, which receive the receipt photos you scan, as described in the Receipt Photos section.
These services are required to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
